2025 NDAA Annual Session

 Air Quality in the Dental Setting 

Presented by Kate Tyner, BSN, RN, CIC

 Kate is the infection prevention team supervisor at Nebraska ICAP and ASAP. Kate was recruited to Nebraska ICAP at the outset of the program in 2015 as an experienced infection preventionist. She has worked to build out an academic medical center and public health partnership. Since that time, ICAP and ASAP have performed hundreds of infection prevention assessments in all types of healthcare settings in Nebraska, including dental facilities. Kate works actively as an infection preventionist. Kate is also the Education Program Director at the Nebraska Infection Control Network, or the NICN, and is proud to continue to ensure that high quality infection control education is available in Nebraska for practitioners in all types of healthcare facilities.

 Overview: This presentation will explore the infectious risks associated with aerosols and air quality in the dental setting, highlighting their impact on infection control. Attendees will gain practical strategies to enhance air quality, reducing risks and improving overall safety in dental practices. 

 

Objectives/ Learning outcomes

·       Attendees will recognize the infectious risks related to aerosols and air quality in the dental setting.

·       Attendees will identify practical strategies to improve infection control in the dental setting by improving the air quality.
